London Aquatics Centre (Competiton pool)

London 2012 Olympic competition venue!

The London Aquatic Centre is in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, East London. Purpose-built for the London 2012 Olympic games, the venue includes three individual pools. The main 50 metres by 10-lane competition pool, where the actual Olympic events took place; A second 50m warm-up pool is currently split with a floating boom into two 25m training pools (the next pool on the list and the second pool of the day); and a third 25m wide, deep water diving pool - which I wish I could add to the list!

The facility certainly lives up to the hype. The world’s most modern pool when it opened for the 2012 games, the vast building underwent reconfiguration after the closing ceremony to remove much of the spectator seating and prepare the pool for its legacy community use.

I’m visiting almost five years after the games, but everything is still pristine, clean, well-maintained and fully spec’d.
